I need to re-title my blog. It isn’t that I don’t like the one I have; it’s that I am irritated with Oprah right now and find it necessary to distance myself (like we’re best buddies). So fellow bloggers, readers, posters and lurkers---any ideas? Here are a few I am kicking around, but would love to hear your ideas:
The Open Vein
There's nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and open a vein. ~Walter Wellesley "Red" Smith
Breathings of the Heart
Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart. ~William Wordsworth
Inner Music
To me, the greatest pleasure of writing is not what it's about, but the inner music the words make. ~Truman Capote, McCall's, November 1967
Rain and Battle
For me, a page of good prose is where one hears the rain and the noise of battle. ~John Cheever
My Struggles Against Silence
Writing is a struggle against silence. ~Carlos Fuentes

These are all great quotes! The one that seemed like a closest fit for the person I know you as is: breathings of the heart, but I do like them all- good luck!
They are all great quotes. I have heard the "open vein" one before (I think it might suit me more than you) but agree with Sally, breathing of the heart is good or inner music. Like them both and they both suit you and your blogging style.
Curious about the Oprah thing though. Is it the detox blog? Her obviously photoshopped face on the recent cover of O when the magazine is dedicated to learning to love your body?
Oprah is not the everywoman anymore. Her world is too privileged and rarified now, but she is essentially a still a victim of the negative stereotypes we are all saddled with as women and struggle to become our best selves in spite of this.
Here are some other possibilities:
The Longer Letter
I have made this letter longer, because I have not had the time to make it shorter.
Blaise Pascal (1623 - 1662)
Greater Things
All of us learn to write in the second grade. Most of us go on to greater things.
Bobby Knight (1940 - )
Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it.
C. S. Lewis (1898 - 1963)
Life of Their Own
Words, once they are printed, have a life of their own.
Carol Burnett (1936 - )
A Map of Me
This is pretty much what journals are all about, at least to me. I knew as I wrote them that even though they provided an excellent place for brain (and heart, and psyche) dump, they were mainly a map of me.
Colleen Wainwright, communicatrix, 03-23-2006
The Mighty Pen
Beneath the rule of men entirely great,
The pen is mightier than the sword.
Edward Bulwer-Lytton (1803 - 1873), Richelieu
Greater Contentment
Please write again soon. Though my own life is filled with activity, letters encourage momentary escape into others lives and I come back to my own with greater contentment.
Elizabeth Forsythe Hailey, 'A Woman of Independent Means'
OH--if I put a quote on my blog from Bobby Knight Don would roll over in his grave and I mean that with the utmost respect, but I love the others!!
The Oprah thing has more to do with her over nauseating, cult-like self-promoting of "A New Earth". It is more scary than beneficial to me. I know it may appear that she is helping folks, but...at what cost. Just "don't drink the koolade"
Marsha
Yeah, I understand on the Oprah thing. Frankly, I think that if you want to save the world throw your money at it like Bill and Melinda do. Endow things and hand out grants. They have done something though I get the "teach a man to fish" thing that might be where Oprah is coming from a bit.
I never understood the draw Oprah has on other women mainly Christian women since she is an Athiest and does not belive in a higher power of anykind. I know she gives alot away but so does the devil nothing is free!!!!!
